Descripción
Sagittaria subulata, commonly known as dwarf sagittaria, is a perennial aquatic plant native to the Americas. It forms rosettes of narrow, elongated, bright-green leaves that resemble small ribbons of grass.
It is a hardy, easy-to-maintain species suitable for beginners. Its height is highly variable: it usually reaches 5–30 cm, although individual plants may grow taller under favourable conditions. It can therefore be used in the foreground or midground and, when it develops longer leaves, as a transition towards the background.
It adapts to low or moderate lighting and does not require injected CO₂, although stable nutrition and additional CO₂ encourage faster spreading. Nutrients around the roots are particularly beneficial. The plant may occasionally produce a flower stalk that reaches the surface and develops small white flowers above the water.
